David Thimgan painted the West Coast from Los Angeles to Seattle specializing in maritime history and west coast shipbuilding during the 19th century, which resulted in his historically accurate and realistic works.
His works are in important private and corporate collections around the world. In both 1996 and 1997, he won the Rudolph J. Schaefer Award from the Mystic Maritime Gallery in Mystic, Connecticut.
