JANE CHAPIN Across America

On view through October 5th

100% of the sale of Jane's book 'Land of the Free' A Painter's Chronicle of Our 50 States & Their Heroes will benefit SOWF.

The SOWF ensures full financial assistance for a post-secondary degree from an accredited two or four-year college, university, technical or trade school, as well as educational and family counseling to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty. The foundation also provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded and hospitalized special operations personnel.

Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, Jane took her first painting class at the age of ten. She helped put herself through art school by doing portraits, establishing an early skill at the human figure. Jane mainly paints landscapes using a traditional approach, believing that plein air painting is an essential part of her development as a painter.

To facilitate her lifelong love of travel Jane Chapin purchased a motor home in 2007 and began a painting journey across America. Jane writes, “The more ground I covered, the more I realized how blessed my life was, and how lucky I was to be born into this time and place. The realization of my freedom on the road reawakened me to the debt I owed our veterans, past and present.”  While painting, Jane felt the farms and towns on this trip were a gift from, and a tribute to American veterans, our county’s heroes. Jane documented her trip and her artwork in 'Land of the Free' A Painter's Chronicle of Our 50 States & Their Heroes and donates 100% of the proceeds to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
