Description

This painting of the BROWN shows her in the epitome of her role as an armed freighter in convoy. Proceeding down the East Coast, a World War I destroyer (known as a “Four Piper”) lays down a smoke screen flying the signal “W” over “C” (U-boat contacted) in an effort to hide the heavily laden ships from the killer submarines.
